Commemorate Veterans Day in Massachusetts

Veterans Day EventsCities and towns across the Commonwealth are commemorating Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11, with parades, wreath-laying ceremonies, and other events. Here are a few to consider:

  • Boston24 Beacon Street, 10 a.m.
    Hosted by Secretary of Veterans’ Services Francisco A. Ureña and DVS, the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at Memorial Hall in the Massachusetts State House.
  • Worcester69 Grove Street, 8 a.m.–2 p.m.
    Veterans Day events in Worcester begin with a pancake breakfast, followed by a parade starting at the north end of Grove Street at Glennie Street, a speaking program at the Historical Armory, and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial in Green Hill Park.
  • Springfield 1 Federal Street, 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
    The Springfield Veterans Day Parade starts at the Springfield Technical Community College campus and ends in Court Square, where a ceremony will take place on the steps of City Hall. Don’t miss the complimentary hot dogs served at GAR Hall across from Symphony Hall after the ceremonies.
  • Chatham Main Street, 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
    Join members of the Chatham Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and American Legion, the Ladies Auxiliary to the Chatham VFW, the Chatham Coast Guard, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and boys and girls from Chatham scout organizations as they march to Veterans Circle in The Town of Chatham Veterans Day Ceremony.
  • Marlborough Main Street, 10 a.m.
    Join participants in the Marlborough Veterans Day Parade as they march down Main Street, making stops at veterans’ memorials along the way and ending at the WWI Memorial in honor of those who’ve served our country.
  • Sturbridge Village1 Old Sturbridge Village Road, 9:30 a.m.–4 p.m.
    Explore U.S. military history during Veterans Day at Old Sturbridge Village, where special activities will include a showcase of how American military uniforms and weapons evolved over the past 300 years, as well as various children’s activities. All active, veteran, and retired members of the military and up to six family members will receive free admission on Veterans Day.
