The National Veterans Art Museum inspires greater understanding of the real impact of war with a focus on Vietnam. The museum collects, preserves and exhibits art inspired by combat and created by veterans. This work of art is the famed 10 x 40 foot installation piece entitled Above and Beyond. It is comprised of more than 58,000 imprinted dog tags representing each of the service men and women who died in the Vietnam War. On 11/11/11, the NVAM kicked off its Above and Beyond Campaign, seeking sponsors for every dog tag at $10 each to help move, protect and preserve this memorial as well as the more than 2,000 works of art in the museum's permanent collection.
