Planning is underway for the California Community Colleges Veterans Summit
March 20 - March 22
We owe tremendous gratitude to our military veterans who have endured immense sacrifice in defense of our nation.
With an estimated 1.8 million veterans residing in California, our state’s veteran population is the largest in the nation. An increasing number of veterans returning from service in Iraq and Afghanistan will look to one of the 114 California community colleges as the most accessible and affordable educational options available.
The California community college system is continuously seeking ways to improve the educational experience of our student veterans. Speaking to this ongoing effort, the Veterans Summit was created. The purpose of the Veterans Summit is to ensure information and effective practices can be shared between faculty, administrators and staff who work with student veterans on California Community College, California State University and University of California campuses. For some, the Summit provides an opportunity to learn from those who have significant experience serving student veterans and offers the chance to make important contacts. For others, it provides an opportunity to share and showcase practices that have been effective at their college, hopefully helping to shorten the learning curve for others.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Counselors, deans, certifying officials, administrators, trustees, instructional faculty members and statewide leaders from the California Community Colleges, California State University and University of California are invited to attend.
